Triangle (a module in TrapTester)

Triangle module in TrapTester software

Fault seal prediction in mixed clastic sequences requires knowledge of the lithology and fault displacement. For simple 'layer-cake' stratigraphy, 1-D triangle plots can provide a "quick look" approach to fault seal analysis.

Triangle module in TrapTester uses the existing TrapTester database to access the well data directly imported from OpenWorks and/or GeoFrame databases. Triangle supports all the main fault seal and fault property attributes in TrapTester and incorporates the Attribute Calculator module for user-defined analysis.

Well data for the PC version are measured depth and well logs in ASCII format. Gamma logs can be pre-processed to calculate Vshale by linear interpolation between upper and lower cutoffs.

Key Features:

Standard Attributes

Fault seal potential can be expressed as a variety of standard attributes showing shale gouge ratio, clay smear potential, hydrocarbon column height or as sand connectivity and attribute crossplots. The Triangle module incorporates all the standard empirical relationships and calibrations to predict fault-zone properties such as transmissibility multipliers.

User-Defined Attributes

In addition to the standard attributes, users can construct macros using the Attribute Calculator to enable proprietary calibrations to be included in the Triangle analysis. This enhanced functionality provides unsurpassed flexibility for predicting fault-zone properties.

Graphical analysis

Cross-plots of fault attributes can be quickly generated using the Plot Viewer. Data from any Triangle-generated attributes can be ploted and exported as ASCII data for further analysis.

Key Benefits:

Fast analysis

Simple to use functionality in Triangle allows you to derive a "quick look" assessment of the seal potential in just a few minutes.
