Geomodelling in T7

This is a new course for 2017 describing how to use T7 to create, populate and analyse faults in Geomodels (also known as Geo-Cellular grids or Corner Point Grids). The course is designed for geologists who have no experience of creating Geomodels or who want to learn more about how to create and populate Geomodels from static fault models. The course is also suitable for reservoir engineers who have no previous experience of using T7 for creating Geomodels.

Concepts and practical sessions cover creating a Geomodel, different statistical methods for populating a Geomodel and the workflows for deriving fault transmissibility multipliers for reservoir simulation.

Some experience of using T7 or Traptester is preferred but is not essential.

Course Contents:

Introduction to Geomodel Scenarios and Plugins in T7.

Creating a Geomodel
Creating a Geomodel from a fault framework model, creating a Geomodel from imported ECLIPSE data files, incorporating well data.

Populating a Geomodel
Introduction to Geostatistics, separate exercises for populating a model using Deterministic, Stochastic and Gaussian Simulation Methods, comparison of methods and outcomes.

Fault Analysis & Transmissibility Multipliers
Overview of main algorithms for deriving fault permeability & fault-zone thickness. Introduction to Sub-Cell scale fault-zone structure and Upscaling, separate practical lessons for deriving transmissibility multipliers from default and user-defined relationships, automated model runs and bulk export of results.
