LIMITATIONS OF TRANSGEN

TransGen is intended to add value to existing or new Eclipse simulation where faulting effects simulation results.  One of the design goals was to minimise the amount of work required when preparing input and using output from TransGen.  To achieve this goal, the program mimics the behaviour of the Eclipse keyword system and adopts other Eclipse styles and conventions.

NOTE: TransGen is not a simulation system and has limited functionality compared to Eclipse

The most important limitations of TransGen are listed below:

  •   Only corner-point geometry is supported

  •   Only one reservoir is allowed per model (i.e. Eclipse keyword NUMRES = 1)

  •   Only uses a small subset of Eclipse keywords (TransGen generates an error message for unrecognised keywords)

  •   Inactive cells are used in SGR calculations and therefore property data must be entered for all cells

  • TransGen input can be prepared directly from Eclipse input by removing keywords TransGen does not use (or recognise).  The FileGen module will do this for you.

Output from TransGen can be incorporated directly into the simulator's input.
